Serbian Prime Minister Miloš Vučević resigns after attack on students in Novi Sad

Serbian Prime Minister Miloš Vučević resigned on January 28, hours after students putting up posters for a blockade were attacked in Novi Sad and a female student was seriously injured. Vučević said he was resigning to "calm tensions". Novi Sad mayor Milan Đurić also resigned.
Since November, students and some citizens have been blocking universities and roads after the collapse of the canopy at Novi Sad railway station, which killed 15 people. A day earlier, on January 27, students blocked the Autokomanda intersection in Belgrade for 24 hours.
What the students want
The students have four demands: publication of the full documentation on the station's reconstruction, dropping of criminal charges against arrested protesters, prosecution of those who attacked students and a 20 percent increase in the higher education budget. The authorities say the demands have been met, which the students dispute.
