Putin: Russia struck Dnipro with new "Oreshnik" intermediate-range missile

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced in a televised address on November 21 that Russia had struck the Pivdenmash industrial complex in Dnipro that morning with a new intermediate-range missile, "Oreshnik", in a non-nuclear hypersonic configuration. Putin claimed the missile flies at up to Mach 10 and that no existing air defence system can intercept it.
The Ukrainian Air Force said in the morning that the missile had been launched from Astrakhan Oblast, together with a Kinzhal missile and seven Kh-101 cruise missiles. Footage of the strike shows six warheads, each carrying six submunitions.
An "experimental" missile
Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh said it was an experimental intermediate-range ballistic missile based on Russia's RS-26 Rubezh intercontinental missile, and that Moscow had notified Washington shortly before the launch through nuclear risk reduction channels.
