Drone hits petrol station in South Kordofan: seven dead, 36 wounded

A drone strike, most likely by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), killed at least seven people and wounded 36 at a petrol station in Abbasiya district in South Kordofan on Tuesday, the Sudan Tribune reported, according to a roundup by Foreign Exchanges.
The attack is part of a pattern that has defined 2026. According to the New York Times, drones have become the leading cause of civilian deaths in Sudan this year, and analysts say the main beneficiaries are Turkish and Chinese drone manufacturers. UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk has warned that the use of drones is accelerating.
More than a thousand civilians in five months
According to the UN Human Rights Office, more than 1,000 civilians were killed in drone strikes in the first five months of 2026. In recent weeks, strikes have hit a market in Nyala, where 21 people were killed on October 26, as well as power infrastructure supplying millions of residents of Khartoum.
Since the war began in April 2023, the World Health Organization has recorded 2,036 people killed in 213 attacks on health facilities. We published a detailed analysis of the situation one year after the fall of El Fasher in One year after El Fasher.
The RSF has not claimed responsibility for the attack in Abbasiya.
