Israel carries out three waves of strikes on military targets in Iran, Tehran says damage limited

The Israeli Air Force carried out three waves of strikes on military targets in Iran in the early hours of October 26, the Israeli military said, adding that missile production facilities and air defence systems were targeted. According to Israeli media, about 100 aircraft, including F-35 fighters, took part in the operation.
The Iranian army said the strikes hit military sites in Tehran, Khuzestan and Ilam provinces, that the damage was "limited" and that four air defence soldiers were killed. Israel said the operation was over and warned Tehran not to respond.
A response to October 1
The strikes are a response to Iran's October 1 attack, when Iran fired around 180 ballistic missiles at Israel following the killings of Hassan Nasrallah and Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh. This time Israel did not target oil or nuclear facilities, as the administration in Washington had urged.
