People gathered in Novi Sad on November 1 for a commemoration marking the second anniversary of the collapse of the railway station canopy, which killed 16 people. Three columns set off at 10:20 from different parts of the city towards the station.

At 11:52, the moment the canopy fell in 2024, 16 minutes of silence began; one heart-shaped balloon bearing a victim's name was released for each of the dead. Ilija Srdanović, who heads the Student List, laid a wreath, and a commemoration was also held in Kosovska Mitrovica.

Justice on hold

Several separate investigations into the collapse are under way, and an indictment has been brought against 13 people, but no trial has yet begun. Besides the 16 dead, one young woman was seriously injured.
