Overnight Russian drone and missile attack on Kyiv kills at least 12

At least 12 people were killed and 21 wounded in a massive Russian missile and drone attack on Kyiv and the Kyiv region overnight on September 1, Ukrainian authorities said. "Kyiv region came under a massive attack by Russian missiles and strike drones tonight," regional military administration chief Tymur Tkachenko wrote on Telegram.
Mayor Vitali Klitschko said at least eight people were killed in the capital and five injured, including two children. Prosecutors said four people died in Boryspil, where 50 residents were evacuated from a damaged building. President Volodymyr Zelensky said an Indian citizen was among the dead.
Jet-powered drones
Air force spokesman Yurii Ihnat said Russia had launched about 2,800 jet-powered drones over the previous six days, about 60 percent of which were intercepted. The faster jet drones are harder to shoot down for the mobile machine-gun teams Ukraine has relied on against slower Shaheds.
