US, Armenia and Azerbaijan launch working groups for the "Trump Route" corridor through Syunik

US Assistant Secretary of State Brendan Hanrahan, Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan and Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov launched trilateral technical planning groups for TRIPP (the "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity"), the State Department said on November 6. The first two groups cover transport and electricity transmission.
"The sides reaffirmed their respective commitments to expeditious operationalization of all modalities of TRIPP," the joint statement said.
A route through Syunik
The corridor stems from the declaration of the Washington summit of August 8, 2025, and links mainland Azerbaijan with Nakhchivan through Armenia's Syunik region. Armenia's parliament ratified the framework agreement with the US on TRIPP on October 28. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on November 2 that Armenia will itself commission the design of the railway, road and power lines, with a TRIPP development company taking over later; gas and oil pipelines are left for a later stage.
