North Korea fired about ten short-range ballistic missiles from the Wonsan area, about 145 kilometres northeast of Pyongyang, at around 12:30 p.m. local time on October 29, South Korea's defence ministry said. The missiles flew about 250 kilometres towards the East Sea.
The launch came a day after the US, the EU and Australia announced new sanctions. It was the first known barrage since August 20 and at least the fourth launch in October.
A month of missiles
Pyongyang launched a ballistic missile on October 3 that flew at least 700 kilometres, two ballistic missiles on October 12, and two days later tested submarine-launched cruise missiles.
